“My Summer” is a short visual diary done as a project for my second year Illustration degree. The work focuses on childhood memories connected to my grandparents’ house and the summers spent in a small Polish town called Lubartów. My main aim was to create an atmosphere of stillness and warmth, focusing on nostalgia that adds an element of magical realism to scenes from everyday life. I combined drawings from memory with pictures taken throughout the years. Through my illustrations, I wanted to construct a new image of a place that was my childhood home.
